Seek Your Muse, Young One.

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best advice you’d give to someone younger than you?

My best advice to a young gun: Seek out your muse.

Muse, defined: A source of inspiration (of people); an act of musing; a period of thoughtfulness and dreamy abstraction.

Whether you are an artist or not, you will have a muse. Something or someone that inspires you naturally and totally; a style or persona, a piece of art or a certain animal or aesthetic. Let the spirit of this choice animate your life.

Your muse will also shapeshift, or evolve. So be ready for that. She is growing and changing just the same as you. But just as there is a constancy to your core, the same will prove true of your muse.

So go find your muse; but don’t be afraid to take your time. Wide-ranging travel and intellectual exploration will both be necessary to unveil the nature of her.
